Water Blast Equipment for the Home
You are going to need water blast equipment for any project that you may do at home for serious cleaning or clearing out. Here are a few things that you can expect when it comes to the kind of equipment you need.
Water Blasting Induction System
This is the type of equipment that you would expect for a Heavy Duty job. If you are doing an outside job like trying to remove mold and mildew from the house or pool and deck, getting oil build up off tile or even trying to remove sun damage then this type of system is what you will want to work with. It also works for removing paint or graffiti from walls and using a hard abrasive material to do so. You will not want to use this type of cleaning though when it comes to softer jobs like furniture. It has a heavy duty frame with wheels and is pretty easy to move around as you are working on the job. Mainly it is used for systems that are using a 3K and 20K PSI. You can hold either 150 lbs. of soluble abrasives or if you are using hard abrasives you can work with about 225 lbs. at a time.
Nozzle
The nozzle is the part that the water actually comes out of and it can change depending on the type of job that you are doing. Many times it is made out of stainless steel and helps to reduce abrasive consumption. The nozzle on most of the water blasters are 360 degrees and rotate all the way around for the best usage.
Safety and Other Accessories
This category does not just include wearing safety gloves and goggles, although you do need to do that. You also have other equipment though that goes along with your water blasting tools to help make the job safer and more manageable. You will need to make sure that you get a hydroblast hose that hooks up. It is an attachment that ensures that there will be no separation from the hose which can not only cause a mess, but it can wind up hurting someone as well. A control gun is another accessory that you will want to have because it keeps the high blasting hose away while you are using it and it also has a non stick trigger and a safety latch that will keep it from turning on while you are away.
You will want to keep in mind the size of the job you are actually doing before you rent or buy the equipment for water blasting. You are going to need different sizes and power for an outdoor cleaning of a brick wall then you would if you are trying to get paint off of an antique chair. When you go to rent or buy you will want to let them know the kind of job you have in mind so that they can guide you to finding the best tools.
